THE BEST CRAB DIP

Yes, according to my family, this is absolutely The Best Crab Dip, evah!!! Just for you, I’ve posted it just in time for the big SUPER BOWL GAME!!! You’re welcome.

This dip isn’t just good for a Super Bowl snack, it is good any time of the year, but is loved and expected during holiday gatherings and special occasions in this house.

When you look at the list of ingredients, I’ll agree, it looks like a lot, but truly, most of the ingredients listed are just spices, which make this recipe nice and tasty. Trust me, this dip is SUPER quick and easy to throw together.

HELPFUL HINTS FOR THE BEST CRAB DIP

My recipe calls for canned crab meat, but feel free to use fresh or lump crab meat, if you prefer. I actually like the finess of the canned crab meat.

The hot sauces that I have listed, to me, are the perfect blend because the flavors contradict each other, but feel free to use your favorite hot sauce.

Yummy things to dip may include: tortilla chips, pretzels, crackers, or a variety of fresh veggies.

Equipment

  • 8×10 baking dish
  • Handheld electric mixer
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup Sour cream
  • 1/4 cup Mayonaisse I use Duke's
  • 3-4 Green onions finely diced
  • 2 Cloves fresh garlic grated
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning mix
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cavender's
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried dill weed
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried parsley flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • Juice from 1/2 of one lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Truff hot sauce or your choice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Trappey's louisianna hot sauce or your choice
  • 3/4 cup Cheddar cheese shredded, divided in half
  • 3/4 cup Mozzarella shredded, divided in half
  • 2 6 ounce Cans crab meat drained

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 350℉.
  • To a medium bowl, add the softened cream cheese and beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.
  • To the smooth cream cheese, add the mayonnaise, sour cream, green onions, garlic, Old Bay, Cavender's, dill weed, parsley flakes, ground mustard, Kosher salt, worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and hot sauces. Mix together.
  • Add half of the cheddar and mozzerella cheeses and mix until well combined.
  • Stir in the canned crab meat.
  • Pour the mixture into an approximately 8×10 baking pan and sprinkle with the remaining half of the cheeses.
  • Bake in a pre-heated oven for about 20 to 25 minutes. Remember, nothing actually has to cook, we're just heating it up and getting the cheese nice and gooey and melty!
  • If, at the end of the cooking time, you don't feel like the top of the dip is golden enough, simply place under the broiler for about 1 minute. KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON IT SO IT DOESN'T BURN.
  • Enjoy!
