Although this recipe is titled Flag Cake, it can really be made into any kind of cake. It’s completely versatile and could be decorated for Easter, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, etc.. Let your imagination run wild.
I only spent a few minutes decorating this cake for the 4th of July, but you could spend some time and get really elaborate, if you want to.
The cake itself is so moist and creamy, you’re sure to impress whoever you make it for. Using my EXTRA CREAMY CREAM CHEESE FROSTING makes it even better!
HELPFUL HINTS FOR FLAG CAKE
**Please note that there are two recipes below. One for the cake and one for the frosting.**
This cake is best kept in the refrigerator and will keep for about a week. The fruit, however, will not! The berries will stay good for a couple days, max, so, eat ’em up.
I simply spread the frosting on top of the cake before decorating it with berries, but you could use a piping bag to apply the frosting and really get creative and make it pretty, if that is your thing.
