EASY APPLE CRUMBLE

This Easy Apple Crumble Recipe is super sneaky because it tastes like it could be complicated to make, but in reality it is easy peasy to make!

The homey taste and smell of the apples and the cinnamon and spices make it a definite comfort dessert. Add some vanilla ice cream or some homemade whipped cream and it is a masterpiece! Some even like a little drizzle of caramel sauce.

The ingredients in this recipe are fairly basic and you probably already have most of them on hand.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR MAKING THIS EASY APPLE CRUMBLE RECIPE

It is not uncommon for people to prefer to use a tangy apple, like a Granny Smith, in their desserts, but I quite prefer Honeycrisp apples. They are amazing whether eaten plain for a snack, or in an apple dessert like this one.

This simple dessert can be made a day ahead of time. Simply make it per the recipe and then cover it and store it in the refrigerator until ready to bake.

Chopped pecans or walnuts could be added to the crumble mixture, if desired, for a little extra crunch and flavor.

GROCERY LIST

  • Honeycrisp apples
  • Freshly squeezed juice from oranges or cuties
  • All-purpose flour
  • Granulated sugar
  • Dark brown sugar – dark brown sugar has a deeper flavor
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg
  • Allspice
  • Kosher salt
  • Real butter

I use 2 medium to large bowls when making this recipe. One for the apples and juice and one for the flour sugar mixture.

This is baked in an 8×10 casserole dish.

I place the casserole dish on a foil lined baking sheet , just in case there is any spillage.

A pastry blender will make cutting the butter into the flour/sugar mixture much easier.
